Start off by locating your stock air filter. It is in the back towards your firewall.
Most will have a top piece that goes from the back to the front that connects to the intake manifold. If that is the case there will be a twist off connection for that to be removed (on the front side). After removing that you will see the dirty filter located in that back area. Most will be white in color, but I tried that new Fram and it is no real difference so back to the cheap one in the this how to.
The air filter housing has 2 clips on the top side and slides in on the bottom side. If you have anything in the way like a strut bar then remove that before continuing.
After getting that out of the way you can now take your flat head screw driver and locate the clips on the top side of the air filter housing. Slide the screwdriver between the clip and the housing then twist and it should pop off. Do the same to the other clip.
After they are both undone then the front side of the housing will come off. The clips will stay on the front piece so don't try and take them off completely.
Now you should be able to wingle the front housing out of the back.
Look at filter in the housing before you remove it (should still be in front piece when you take it off). Remove the old filter and throw it to the side. While you have it apart make sure it is pretty clean and remove any additional debri. Put in new air filter in the housing.
Locate the "teeth" that will slide back into the openings of the back air filter housing. Slide it in while keeping the clips are up and then press down on the clips until they snap. Make sure your bottom teeth are also still in place by grabbing the housing and shaking it to make sure it has a good connection.
For the most part this is the final look. If you have the top piece that goes from the back to the intake manifold then you can put that back in place now. Don't forget to add back any parts that you took off to get to the air filter (strut bar etc.)
